I've been using this portable AC in a 400 ft² living room area, and it kept it nice and cool in a 95 degree heat. In addition, it's quieter than every window unit I've ever had. According to the instruction manual, the unit might need to be drained occasionally. However, I've been using it for about a month now in the very high New York humidity and have not had to drain it yet. Very happy with this AC.

AC Unit Works Well

I bought this to supplement an old, lagging AC system in my 700sf apartment. This works great; I placed the unit in my bedroom and it is now 5-10 degrees cooler in the bedroom than the living room. Before, the bedroom was at least five degrees warmer due to a weak fan on the building's AC.
The unit cools well, and I have had no issues with the hoses. However I did not use the factory window kit, so I can't speak to that. It only works with windows that slide on a plane. I have side crank windows so I had to cobble together a somewhat ridiculous window contraption, but it still works with the unit's hoses. The only complaint I have is that the digital read-out is as bright as a Christmas tree when you turn off all the lights for bed. Nothing a little duct tape couldn't solve.
A great purchase and I highly recommend.

I used this unit in a 3 car garage for emergency car repairs in the Florida inferno. This unit is not big enough for the application, but provides welcome relief.
It's small foot print ,110 voltage requirement and 14000 BTU were important. It will not bring the garage down in temperature a lot, but it removes a lot of humidity which does the trick.
It seems pretty quiet to me. Love that you don't have to ever empty the condensation. Also love the remote so I can turn it on and off without climbing over stuff to get to the unit.
Like the other reviews said, this unit uses 5" ducts where are hard to find. Home Depot does carry 5" to 6" converters. They are flimsy plastic, so if you have to install and remove them frequently I can see how they will break eventually.
Unit was shipped promptly and arrived undamaged. QualityMatters had the best price on this unit by far!
Overall, this unit gets the job done for me and I am happy with the purchase.

The unit is large. I had a 12k btu royal sovereign in the kitchen that i was using to try to cool the entire 1st floor before i realized that i needed a 2nd unit. This 14k Whynter unit is great. It feels cooler when i put my hand into the air stream as compared to the royal sovereign and with the 2 units combined, my 1st floor is actually cool after a few hours. Would recommend.
