Last year I bought the smaller air conditioner and it was stolen over the winter from my garage. So I ordered a new one. It is bigger as I want to use it in a couple of locations in my house. The unit is portable but the window kit is less than adequate. I need to use it in a door wall so my son made it work but had to make it more permanent so I cannot move it. I have casement windows in the living room and it does not fit there. I think there should be choices of window kits to actually fit windows that exist in a house. So I have lost the portability of the product because I don't have the correct window kit. How about some choices. There are more that one type of windows in most houses.

Very good a/c

Prior to choosing the Sharp a/c I actually purchased a lower priced brand from a retail store. I took it back because it was noisy and ran continually. I picked the Sharp after doing research on Sharp and this particular item. Wanted a self-evaportaing unit, no messy drain pans. Portable a/c's are not as quiet as whole house a/c units so Sharp's "Library Quiet" was really the selling point, had the lowest db rating I could find. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the product. It is as quiet as advertised, very stylish and has louvers than open and close remotely. Thus far it has been great at cooling my sports room. I have lots of windows in that room and was the hottest room in my house. The Sharp cools the room in minutes and I can listen to my big screen without big time whine of a portable a/c unit. I would highly recommend even though the price is a higher than other portable a/c units. Sometimes you have to pay a little more for quality and this definately applies.

I have the 10,000 & 13,000 units; they are all that is advertised. Very happy. I have few of other another brand, Soleusair, that are also very good. The Sharps are 25% quieter. I never had to drain the Soleusair, but did do so on the Sharp. Window units don't work in our situation. We wanted something quieter for the bedroom and TV room. The Sharps met our expectation. QualityMatters shipped quick.
