Love the VP112, only issue is that I must put pressure on the cover to pull a proper vacuum, a minor inconvenience.  I use the VP112 every day!

Finicky but great December 1, 2012

I love my new van packer and I am using it nearly daily. It works beautifully. It was a little tricky learning how to use it but customer support at ARY Vac Master (manufacturer) was excellent and they stayed on the phone with me until I understood how to make it work. They should tell you this in the instructions but, as they admit, the only indication of how to make the thing work every time is found on a small sticker which is not at all obvious. Any way, with their help, I am now THRILLED to have this machine and I look forward to years of use. I recommend this machine highly.

Great machine,best value for price on the Internet November 4, 2012

I have purchased 4 food savers vacuum sealers at $150-$175 each over the past 3 years. Spending about what this machine cost and if it last a year it will be worth the price to me. The savings on bags alone is what made me want to buy this machine not to mention I can now seal liquids with the VP112. The foodsaver bags cost on average 40-50 cents a bag and Vp112 3mil bags from quality matters average 5-10 cents a bag. Yes you have to by a 1000 count box but it is worth it. Not to mention quality matters gives free shipping on the machine and bags if you buy them together.

As one review states the 8x10 bags are big enough for most home users. Remember when ordering bags the sealing chamber is only 12x11 inches so a bag bigger then that could run into problems trying to seal. The seal bar is only 12 inches so any bag wider then that at the opening of the bag probably will not seal properly.

Tried cheaper sealers and just didn't work.  My bags would not seal properly and get air in.  This elimates all that and would definetly buy again.

I love this machine!!!! We have over a 1 acre garden and have been giving this machine a work out. I don't know how we ever got by with out it! Finding new uses everyday. It is worth the extra money, great quality item.

It's a bit cumbersome in that you are required to use both hands to open the machine when inserting the items to be sealed.  Your also must initially press down on the cover to make certain that the sealing process starts properly.

I've found the the ARY 8 X 10 bags are not as robust as I expected them to be.  When packaging dried tomatoes I found an occasional bag that had pin holes in the body from the compression of the semi-solid dried tomatoes.  I could be using too much vacuum for the product so the problem may be due to my inexperience with the settings.  

I've also noticed that it's not a good idea to package materials when they are hot.  They start to bubble and will not seal properly.  

It's a good solid machine, but I'm not yet completely sold that it is a great improvement over my standard FoodSaver.

Quality Matters service is great and I'd redcommend them to anyone.
