Along with this unit I purchased 3 different size bags that works perfectly for me...6x8,10x13,and 12x16. I am a prepper with 3 freezers. I buy in bulk and raise my own chickens and hogs. So you can see I use the VacMaster quite often.

I am extremely happy with this unit, I just wish I had purchased it before going thru 3 of the so-called "top of the line" external sealers. I also could not have afforded to seal what I am now doing without the VacMaster. The initial investment is greater, but oh so much cheaper in the long run. I can also process my bulk items 5x faster than with any of the others (Food-Saver included).

Do not, I repeat DO NOT buy any other unit than this one...otherwise you are just wasting your money, time, and hours of frustration.

So far so good..only had it 3 weeks. I have sealed smoked salmon and cheese without a problem. I haven't done anything wet yet. I was a little unimpressed that you have to lightly press on the front of the chamber to get the vacuum to start. I never read anything about this online. It does say you might have to do this in the instructions. I have had to do it every time. Not a big deal, I was just expecting to hit the green button and watch it seal! I'm a little nervous because if I have to press on it fresh out of the box to get it to seal, whats going to happen in six months or two years?????will I have to stand on it????

Quality Matters response: Initially the unit requires that one lightly press on the front part of the lid when the cycle begins. However, eventually the lid seats to the seal and you will end up not having to push on it any more.

This is one INCREDIBLE vacuum sealer. I have used the external bag sealers (FoodSaver by Tilia) for about 25 or more years. This machine is HEAVY DUTY and powerful! The suction is so much better than the FoodSaver and the bags cost less than a dime...FoodSaver bags cost an average of $0.75 each...and, the rolls are a hassle and you waste too much. VacMaster bags are MUCH thicker and reduce puncture... This is THE BEST purchases any cook, hunter, fisherman, and cost conscious (bulk buying) consumer can make! Don't worry about the size and weight...you will find a place to put it and use it all the time! Within a few days you will find so many uses! We now vacuum seal items that used to stink up the trash...like chicken parts, meat scraps, and anything with fish or shrimp or that was raw....just seal in a 4 mil bag and throw in the trash and you NEVER have that stench after a couple days outside in the hot sun! Get the 4 mil and 5 mil bags...makes a HUGE difference.

I ordered a "La Pavoni Professional espresso machine" from QualityMatters.com and was extraordinaly impressed by the outsdanting effort the team has put to help me fix an issue I was having with the seller of this machine (based in NY). While the seller was not responsive to my request to resolve the issue, QualityMatters fought hard for me to get the problem taken care of. QualityMatters was there to help me throughout the entire experience and was able to very successfully resolve the issue within just a few days. I have been looking and researching the best vacuum packing unit for my applications and found what I think is the best for the dollars. This unit is incredible and easy to use... I have it on a wheeled cart so it just moves out from the wall and goes to work. When finished, push it back... Done!

Purchased the VacMaster VP112 1 month ago, have used it a few times now and offer the following review... Fit and Finish is OUTSTANDING, this machine is nothing short of Beautiful. Appears to be very well built and looks like it will last forever. Ease of Use: Once you figure out what amount of vacume you want and the amount of heat to use for secure seal, it is extremely easy to use and wont overheat like smaller sealers. I am very happy with this machine. While it is fairly small (for a almost commercial unit), it does not lend itself well to mobility....It is HEAVY. We purchased a rolling cart for it so as to roll it into the kitchen when we want to use it, you DO NOT want to hump it in and out of a cupboard or storage space all the time. Factory settings worked well but found that on the heavier bags/pouches the heat setting (time) needed to be increased to get a quality seal. All in all.....We are very happy we found it. a firm 10 out of 10 as far as I'm concerned.

I did not come home with the one I intended to buy, I came home with the one I needed. It saved me about $400 Ouality Matters is the only place to go for sales service or help.
This machine is perfect for home use, big enough for 5.5 Lb. whole chicken.... love it.
