Rain Chains are a beautiful alternative to traditional closed metal or plastic downspouts. They break the fall of the water, gulding it visibly down the chain onto pebbles, a pot or stone basin. Rain chains sound great! Rain Chains also make a terrific and unique gift - every home benefits from these elegant outdoor accessories and they are easy to install. Our products are made of high quality, thick copper and brass materails. All cup styles have open bottoms for efficient waterflow even in heavy rainfall. We gladly accomodate special orders, large orders and custom lengths.

About Rain Chains.....Rain Chains ('kusari dol' In Japanese) are hung from the corners of your roof, attached to the gutter system to guide the flow of water gently to the ground; they have been used in Japan for hundreds of years. Years ago, people used rain chains to guide the water into large barrels to catch the water from the roof for household purposes and gardening. Rain Chains are a beautiful alternative to metal or plastic closed gutter downspours. They guide water visibly downward to the ground. This is known as "open" waterflow system. Rain Chains also sound great! Using our gutter attachment piece, rainchains are easily installed for an efficient and beautiful waterflow system.

Catch Basins - The Japanese often put a ceramic or stoneware pot beneath the chain, filled with water, so that when it rains, the water drips from the chain into the pot, creating a beautiful display. You can make a square out of redwood beneath the chains and fill it with small pebbles. If it is damp regularly, moss will grow between the pebbles. You can also place a single paver tile or a few medium sized stones under the chain to break the fall of water. Your local nursery may have a large, low bowl or saucer that will make a good catch basin.

An Installation Kit (RCR-1 or RCR-2) is recommended for this Rain Chain and is sold separately.
