Description Technical Specs Warranty info   The AmcorAire 9,000 BTU Single Zone Ductless Split Air Conditioner with Energy Star Rating, model AMS091HX comes with Advanced Inverter Technology. The functions of this air conditioner include heating, cooling and dehumidifying. This technology, which was developed by Amcor, constantly adjusts output to maximize comfort and minimize energy costs. This air conditioner has a new High SEER and is a practical alternative to the expense of central air conditioning.It is also an aesthetically pleasing alternative to window or through-the-wall air conditioners. Additional features include: Advanced Inverter Technology, Electronic and Wireless Remote Control, Dehumidification Mode, Auto Swing Louver, Auto Restart, Auto Mode, Temperature Display on Indoor Unit, Sleep Mode and Low Ambient Operation. Also, a streamlined and light-weight air handler is mounted on the inside wall. The refrigerant and condensate lines run through a small hole in the wall to the outside unit. Initial power is to the outside unit and then relayed to the air handler. This unit is extremely quiet as the compressor and condenser coil are outside. *Heat Pump Disclaimer: AmcorAire Ductless Mini-Split units are Heat Pumps and will operate in ambient conditions down to about 17° F (other conditions i.e. humidity and wind may increase or decrease working temperature and efficiency). Climates that routinely drop below 17° F Amcor recommends a back up source of heat. Units that utilize Amcor's Advanced Inverter Technology can operate at temperatures down to - 4° F but, they still may require a back up source of heat depending upon the application. Has Some Flaws February 1, 2010 Reviewer: Tom Quinn from Sparta, MI United States   "Amcor is out of business," I was told.  There is no warranty. I purchased and installed a 9000 Btu unit one year ago.  The compressor had to be replaced due to a leak.  Amcor sent a replacement at no expense, however this new compressor was noisy right from the start.  Now, 12 months later, it has died with an apparent electrical short. The wall mountable thermostat is useless as it does not keep accurate time.   I would not say the indoor fan is "extremely quiet", though I also would not say it is noisy.  I have removed the baffle and louver to reduce the sound level.  (Not difficult to do.) A frustrating characteristic is its failure to maintain a constant temperature.  It regularly cools colder than called for or heats too much. I bought Amcor for the low price and good specs.  If I wanted to buy another mini-split, I would look for another brand. Was this review helpful to you?
